Learn everything you need to know about Peace Museums and get more answers to the question: “What can you do for Peace today?”

Peace museums are a rare animal today, at a time when they are argu- ably needed most. The idea of a peace museum seems to many like an abstract concept: “What is a peace museum?”
I often get asked when I tell people about the project. Not only have most people never even been to a peace museum they have no idea what it means. Peace itself can be said to be similarly abstract and unfamiliar. Our museum promotes and teaches positive peace through the life and work of peace heroes, but in my mind we are all activists working to promote peace in the world. Every visitor and team member that we have, if they have the intent of peace, is working to bring about peace in the world in their own way. We seek to make peace familiar, tangible, and actual. What can you do for peace today?

Windows for Peace Heroes

Liza Sotnyk and Liska Blodgett

In this book, you can get acquainted with some of the heroes who fought for peace, equality, freedom, and the protection of the environment.

They all lived in different times and their actions were significant in different ways, but all of them had the same goal:

To make the world a better place.

PEACE HERO'S TALE OF FREEDOM

written and illustrated by Yelyzaveta SOTNYK

edited, published by Liska Blodgett

Freedom is important for peace because it allows individuals to express themselves without fear of repression or retaliation. When people have the freedom to make choices about their own lives, they are more likely to feel a sense of personal fulfillment and continental human right that is essential for promoting and maintaining peace.

TALE OF DETERMINATION

Written by LISHKA BLODGETT

Illustrated by ANNA IVANSKA

Determination helps to overcome obstacles, foster empathy and compassion, and empowers people to challenge injustice.

Determined individuals refuse to succumb to despair or resignation. Instead, they channel their energy and focus towards finding innovative solutions to conflicts and fostering understanding among diverse groups. Their actions inspire others to join in the pursuit of peace, thereby creating a ripple effect that contributes to a more peaceful world for all.

Fight like Raymond Gurême

Anna Rabko

I believe Roma are meant to be happy. I believe it’s part of the culture—at least, it’s his culture. Raymond Gurême was making people happy since childhood. With his music, his acrobatic tricks, his horse magic in the circus. Some parts of his life were very difficult, and he showed how strong he could be. After that, he spent his life rebuilding what was stolen. Raymond built a home for so many horses, a big family—and he shared his happiness with all of us. We never thought about what he had, but how much he gave us was always visible. His caravan has become a museum now, because everyone should know and see how beautiful life can be! Raymond gave us his lessons: we are not allowed to discriminate against anyone. Killing people is illegal. Any kind of hate you grow may kill you. You must resist! Thank you for being so rich with love, respect, and care.
We will resist!
